Today I treated Herman to a new air filter, in the fanciful reckoning that the ability to breathe a bit easier might be worth an extra mile an hour to the boy [with a following wind]. I actually had to ask my fellow LT-owners on the Brickyard Forum where the air filter lived, as I’d never been able to find it. The reason why not is because it’s quite cleverly hidden. Behind the driver’s seat is a hump in the floor, which I always thought was just the shape of the floor at that point. However, lift up the rubber matting and this secret hatchway is revealed.
After unclipping the housing, at last the old air filter was revealed. On the face of it, it didnae look too bad but the fact that there was half a ton of mixed dirt, gravel, cobwebs and dead insects inside the housing led me to believe that it was probably well past its “change by” date.
So there you have it. A rare piece of routine maintenance, just for the hell of it, which hasnae come about because of Herman metaphorically kicking me in the metaphorical bollocks. Nobody say I never treat the boy!
