Today marked the first step in the long road towards turning Herman2 into a camper. I’d listed the bus seats on eBay yesterday and had someone email to ask what I wanted for them [I said £125 for cash] and to say they’d come and pick them up on Sunday.
It took me about an hour or two to get all the seats out. Of the twelve in all that there were, 7 were on Unwin tracking, so were pretty easy to get out. the other 5 were bolted through the floor and had to simultaneously have their bolts clamped inside the bus, to stop them turning, while I lay underneath, getting a faceful of muck with every twist of the socket set , while undoing the nuts. These ranged in annoyance factor from “mildly irritating” to “complete bastard” depending on where they were. The two nuts at the back were hidden up under the tail-lift and were the aforementioned complete bastard to get out.
Malik and friend [for lo’ that was his name] came round in the evening as promised and picked up the seats. So with their £125 added to the £450 I got for Herman, that’s effectively brought Herman2’s purchase price down to just a fiver over three grand –which ain’t too bad.
